Arabic Grammar Cheat Sheets — 12 word patterns and 18 tables
This is not a book to read through. It is what lies open beside whatever you are reading, so one unfamiliar word does not end the session.
Part one — twelve word patterns
Arabic does not build words by adding pieces on the end. It pours three letters into a mould. Learn twelve moulds and a great many words you have never seen become readable on sight.
Each pattern gets one sheet: the shape, exactly what to look for, three examples — then a word you do not know, taken apart step by step until the meaning falls out.
Part two — eighteen tables
Every list in the subject, once, in full, on one sheet. Nothing you have to hunt for twice.
- The ten signs of iʿrāb · what takes -u · what takes -a · the three ways to -i
- Kāna, inna and ẓanna with all their sisters
- Every preposition · everything that changes a verb · the conditionals
- The nine verb forms · the broken plural patterns
- Pronouns, demonstratives and relatives · the numbers one to ten
- Why a word refuses the -i · sun and moon letters
Nothing here is new. It is the same material as the main book, arranged for speed instead of for learning — which is what you need at the moment you are stuck mid-verse.
